Insulated FRP Tank Field Assembly with Controlled Precision

On-site joining of a multi-section insulated FRP tank, executed with accuracy to preserve structural strength and thermal performance.

Project Context

This project required the field assembly of a two-section insulated FRP tank at the client’s facility. Due to transportation and handling constraints, the tank was delivered in separate sections and needed to be joined on-site to form a fully integrated unit.

The presence of insulation between the tank walls added complexity to the joining process, requiring careful execution to ensure that both structural continuity and insulation effectiveness were preserved.

Assembly Requirements

The client required a joining solution that would:

  • Maintain the tank’s structural integrity
  • Protect the insulation layer between tank walls
  • Create a secure, long-lasting bond
  • Meet applicable industry standards

Because the tank plays a critical operational role, precision during assembly was essential to avoid performance issues or future maintenance concerns.

Site Preparation and Joining Methodology

Prior to execution, a detailed site evaluation was performed to assess access, alignment conditions, and logistical constraints. Based on these findings, a tailored joining methodology was developed to suit the tank’s design and installation environment.

The joining process emphasized:

  • Accurate positioning and alignment of tank sections
  • Controlled surface preparation for optimal bonding
  • Specialized fiberglass joining techniques
  • Continuous monitoring to protect insulation integrity

This approach ensured consistency and accuracy throughout the assembly process.

On-Site Execution

A specialized field team from Troy Dualam Services carried out the joining work using proven FRP bonding and lamination practices. Each step was executed with close attention to detail to ensure the joint achieved both mechanical strength and long-term reliability.

Work was completed efficiently within the operational environment, with minimal disruption to surrounding activities at the facility.

Project Outcome

The insulated FRP tank sections were successfully joined on-site, resulting in a fully integrated, structurally sound assembly. The insulation layer remained intact and effective, preserving the tank’s intended thermal and operational performance.

All work met industry quality standards and was completed according to schedule.

Final Results

The completed assembly provided the client with:

  • A seamless and durable tank structure
  • Maintained insulation performance
  • Reliable long-term operation
  • Minimal impact on facility operations
  • On-time delivery aligned with project timelines

The tank was integrated into the client’s system without delays, supporting uninterrupted operational continuity.
